USET: result, cut-off merit and the issue of degree college lecturer recruitment 2012-13

New update- please read this new article to view the officially declared result and other information.

Result of the USET is being waited for by many in the state but still there is no such information.
But we have some information for you:
It may not seems to be good news for many candidates of the Uttarakhand State Eligibility Test (USET) but it may come true if the NET result of the June 2012 is to be believed.
As USET was based on the pattern of UGC NET, so the qualifying criteria may go as:

Following is the category wise official qualifying criteria for lectureship eligibility for June 2012 NET: so same may be the criteria for the USET

For General Category- Paper-I: 40%, Paper-II: 40%, Paper-III: 50%
And the aggregate marks of all three paper must be 65% or above for successful Passing of the NET exam.

For OBC (Non Creamy Layer) Category- Paper-I: 35%, Paper-II: 35%, Paper-III: 45%
And the aggregate marks of all three paper must be 60% or above for successful Passing of the NET exam.

For SC Category- Paper-I: 35%, Paper-II: 35%, Paper-III: 40%
And the aggregate marks of all three paper must be 55% or above for successful Passing of the NET exam.

Consequently if one is qualifying and selected according to the answer keys, but there are chances that he/she may not be getting the overall aggregate marks.
So be careful regarding that and check once more your USET answer keys.

Remember, that this was the first time UGC has given nod to the Kumaun University to conduct USET and it was objective type papers in all subject.

There is a proposal to recruit around 800 degree college lecturers in various subjects. These vacancies are to be filled up on basis of the USET merit in the state of Uttarakhand.

Further there were unofficial reports in newspaper that the cut-off may be increased in USET to screen out the lower merit candidates.
So even if someone is passing and having a high percentage, it may not guarantee seat in the degree college recruitment in Uttarakhand.

However please visit again for any official declaration in this regard.

New LT and lecturer recruitment in Uttarakhand 2012, difference in pattern for the LT and Lecturer recruitment exam in Uttarakhand

New- new LT recruitment exam may have new eligibility criteria please read the new article

Friends, it might be good news for many and bad for few (those looking for waiting list) but the reports in various newspapers on different dates says that Uttarakhand state government is planning to fill up the vacant post of Licensed Teacher (LT) of High Schools and the Lectures in the inter colleges of the state
There would be 1500+ lectures and around 3000 LT posts (including backlog posts) to be filled by the fresh recruitment. (This data is however not official).

The issue of LT recruitment waiting of the previous recruitment after reaching at peak now seems to be dying down slowly, as if unconfirmed reports from the inner circle are to be believed.

Further those in power circle are not interested in the “waiting list”. They rather are in favor of the new recruitment. (Read from the link below and the comments given in the old article for latest update on this topic).

One point that will really make difference in the process is the report in one newspaper; this new recruitment of LT in Uttarakhand will be totally based on the merit of written marks in the exam and will not take into account the academic merit of the candidates.
Remember earlier it was based on both the academic merit and the written exam. So candidates with high academic merit got the benefit even when they could not score well in the written test conducted by UBTER. And the question papers of all subjects in the LT exam 2010-11 were also not scoring enough so the merit of all the subjects hovered around lower side. This further put those in advantage who had good academic merit and were fresh and up to date with the subject knowledge.
However this is just a report which is not confirmed yet by officially. So come again for any update later.

One point that we would like to mention here is that; have you notice the irony in the recruitment process of both lectures and the LT.

One is conducted by UBTER which set papers of the subjects so difficult that candidates were even saying that it was of level of PCS paper.
Do you think that a teacher who has to teach 6-8th or even 10th class is required to have that much deep knowledge of the subject (obviously, though it is not bad). Isn’t he better with average subject knowledge and more general knowledge? I mean isn’t he better to be a jack of all trades.

Now take the case of the lecture recruitment 2009, the paper was set by the UKPCS, a body of repute, the question paper tested a second grade, general knowledge of the candidate (forgive us if it is harsh).
No test for subject knowledge. Now you decide yourself. The person who is going to teach class 10th to 12th shouldn’t have deep subject knowledge than simple general knowledge? Must not he be a master of his subject than anything else? Though knowledge of other areas will be an added advantage)

Here point is; there is no denying of the fact that a teacher should be multifaceted personality with wide knowledge in any situation whether lecturer or LT. But when you juxtapose the two recruitment process it seems that the process of recruitment should have been interchanged!
And the prospective Lecturer must be examined for his subject knowledge (test of general knowledge may be added) and LT teacher must be tested for a wide general knowledge (test of basic knowledge of subject may be added).

Well the problem is that both tests were conducted by different organizations so it may a far cry. But we hope you peoples will take note of this and do something from your end to make this dichotomy known to the concerned persons.

Result of the NET held on 24th June 2012: what is the cut-off of different subjects?

Update- check your marks

This post has been amended in light of the confirmed official information.

Result of the UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) for Lectureship and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) has been declared.

For JRF around 3625 candidates have been selected.

For Lectureship 40332 candidates have been declared successful on all India bases.

However there seems to be too much embarrassment for many candidates.
When they saw their answer keys, many of them qualified according to the minimum criteria set by UGC for the passing the prestigious exam.
But a look at the result will show you that there is general and other category merit or minimum cut-off for all subjects in the NET exam.

So even if one have qualified according to the answer keys there is high chances that one may not have made it to the final list of the qualified candidates in the result.

Following is the category wise official qualifying criteria for lectureship eligibility for June 2012 NET:

New update- Click here to check the cut-off for the JRF in different subjects and to know how the cutoff is decided for the JRF.

Remember, that this was the first time UGC has conducted objective type papers in all subject. So cut-off merit may have gone high this time. What is your view?

As they have just mentioned the minimum passing marks. Peoples complain that there are no criteria of minimum cut-off for lectureship. What is the base of selecting the number of candidates for lectureship? They just mention the cut-off of the last year on their site.

But that is not true. As the above mentioned criteria is there in the website of UGC

If someone of you want to throw some light on this matter. You can comment below.
