Bio-technology is now subject for pre-medical entrance exams

As for a report published in the prestigious daily 'THE HINDU' this  is going to be a good news for many students.
The Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry has approved the proposal for inclusion of bio-technology as an eligible subject for the common pre-medical entrance test. The subject is expected to be included in the entrance examination from the next academic year.
The Board of Governors of the Medical Council of India (MCI) had approached the Ministry with the recommendation. The MCI will now have to amend its regulations to include bio-technology as an eligible subject for those seeking to enter the field of medicine following which the Central Board of Secondary Education will notify the eligibility. The CBSE introduced bio-technology as a subject for Class XII courses in 2005 and there seemed many takers at that time with the peak enrolment touching 7,000 students. However, soon interest waned with only 4,000-odd students opting for bio-technology as a subject.
The CBSE had written to the previous regime of the MCI several times over the proposal but there was no response. But the Board of Governors did show enthusiasm and pursued the matter with the Ministry for a formal approval.
Bio-technology was included as a subject at the plus-two stage by the Indian School Certificate-affiliated institutions also. These come under the purview of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE). Some State boards, too, are said to have shown interest in bio-technology as a subject at the under-graduate level.
The CBSE conducts the common entrance test for 15,000 MBBS seats of a total of 32,000 seats every year. Examinations for the other seats are conducted by State governments and some private colleges conduct their own entrance exams.
Students apparently lost interest in bio-technology as it did not make them eligible to write the MBBS entrance tests. However, with the proposed inclusion of bio-technology in the eligibility test now it is believed the interest would pick up again. This would also give the students an opportunity to opt for related post-graduation courses in case they do not qualify for MBBS.
As of now, physics, chemistry and biology are the only subjects necessary for writing the entrance test for the MBBS.
Bio-technology is a field of applied biology that involves the use of living organisms and bio-processes in engineering, technology, medicine and other fields requiring bio-products.

I will post necessary information as soon as I get them. So check back later for some more updates.
your comments and suggestions are always welcome. And If you want to share some useful matter with others through this blog I will be happy to hear from you.

Result of the screening test for lecturers in government inter colleges of Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced the results of the “screening test for lecturers in government inter colleges  2009” on 27th September 2010.
Follow this link to see your result-
Result of the screening test for lecturers in government inter colleges  2009
And if this link does not work for you then you can check the Hindi daily like Amar Ujala, Dainik jagaran, or Hindustan of that date.

The exam was held on 26 Th of May 2010, with this fact in mind the process of declaration of the results comes at good time. Unnecessary delay perhaps was avoided.  So that’s a good job done.
But now coming on to the point, just ask or you might have enquired yourself that your near and dear ones have not been selected in spite of regular preparations, long wait and the drudgery of getting a sarkari job.
Well some might have deserved ones. Little bit of luck is sometime needed to make it through.
What comes to my mind is the Ghost of negative marking had its effect on the final merit list.
The provision of negative marking had played its role in including some in the list and excluding some (may be the deserving ones) from the list.
But in fact you can’t blame it on PSC right??
It was open for all. And hope the whole process had been accomplished without nepotism or favoritism.
But there is some thing I would like to point out before you all especially who have gone through the list and who had been aware of the total number of seats available in each category.

Have you seen the passing number of candidates in Geography?

Well it’s showing 66 candidates (general) have been selected but wait…. How many seats were there?
Someone told me they were 46(general).
Ok then what are the criterias for selection in the interview?  I mean how many candidates are there for each seat.
Generally it is 4, 5 or six candidates for a single seat. That’s a simple math.
There is same question for some other categories too barring others where the logic of that simple formulae is maintained.
So why not it was maintained for each and every category. There are questions
-
-What was the general rule followed to prepare the list?
Isn’t the list prepared in hurry is lacking in something?
As we have seen with that the answer sheet to the questions asked in the exams, which was published on their site was full of mistakes.

B.Ed. admission of HNB Garhwal University

So finally much awaited B.Ed. counseling has begun in uttarakhand. But for a newcomer it’s really difficult to understand the nitty gritty of the whole admission procedure.

After the High Court notice all private institutes have begun their advertisements for filling the seats in their colleges. However the court orders are being interpreted by the respective colleges in their own way. But it is strictly advisable to go deep into the matter before taking admission to specially those 30 colleges.

Even some of the reputated colleges don’t have recognition to run the B.Ed. course in their college. So please beware of that. As I could see most of them are having their ads published in newspaper

The whole admission procedure is divided into five categories. (According to colleges)
The cut off percentages for different categories (general or obc etc)   have been declared.
Just click this link to get the PDF file of the merit list-
http://hnbgu.ac.in/images/ad/Circular/B.Ed%20cutoff%20list%202009-2010.pdf
Or just go to the site of Garhwal University and check yourself.
 www.hnbgu.ac.in
.
Event the second cut off is there on the site.
But the catch is that the PDF file is not readable properly.
You will have to do some trick to make it readable
.
So final word of advice is that If you have marks below  the government cut off or falls in the category of marks as published in the website, you should start visiting the good colleges and check out when they will be starting their admissions. Its Better to find someone who has done the same course from that college and ask what they actually demand over and above the stipulated fees what is the actual position of the college vis-à-vis the ongoing controversaries.
your comments and queries are welcome.

whose mistake????

What may be called high-handedness of police or the mindset of the petty small time politician that they are above laws..
There seems to be both. many time it is seen that small time politicians used to act in rude manner and show themselves above the law and order. This icidence also turning out to be the same. During the traffic jam policemen were doing there duty. And this politician’s car was creating the jam situation on the busy road. Further the person traveling with the politician e.g. the driver was also seemed to be overproud of himself as driver of a politician. Result was just reshuffling of officers and tainted policemen being tried for their behaviour. But what about that politician? police should have shown the necessary restraint but that there is urgent need of proper behaviour from these politician.

Uttarakhand pcs lecturership exam

There were ample mistakes in the answer key to the question papers of lecturership in govt. inter colleges exams conducted by Uttarakhand pcs on 26th of may 2010.
However standard of the question paper was much better as compared to the previous exam held on 2004-05.But still candidates felt that if a person is going to be a teacher of a particular subject, he or she should have been tested for the subject knowledge rather than only for the general knowledge.
hope that result will be out soon. your comments are welcome.
