Graduates and TET qualified can become teachers?

So the present central government is going to amend something with long range impact. Present central government and unfortunately the present state government’s decision, leadership and style of functioning are mostly awkward, irresponsible, and opportunistic. And myopic, short term goals with divide and rule kind of any policy that has the potential to go from worse to worst
The above declaration may seem harsh but if you had been tapping news and views of thinkers and if for you the beloved country is more important than any political party or person then you would definitely understand. We are failing and being humiliated in any front whether it is international or national but even then we cannot do anything. Phew!
Apart from the above frustration, news is that according to Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD), Union government future plan, if you are plane graduate and can qualify Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) whether UTET/CTET/TET then you will be eligible to become a teacher for up to 8th Class. Until now you have to go through the teacher training (Bed/ BlEd/ BTC/JBT etc.) program to become a school teacher. Mind you this is just a proposal till now.
As per the report some 13 states including Uttarakhand are reeling under the shortage of teachers. Further the shortage is compounded by the number of pass outs of the CTET or TET. The qualifying percentages are too low.

One of the reasons that bring up this new is the compulsion of Right To Education (RTE) which among other things envisages minimum number of teacher requirement.

I still don’t know how to react to this news. On one side it is good news for aspiring perhaps talented graduates and on other side lots of those who are already graduates and post graduates with teacher training (already spend money and precious time) and TET pass outs.
Take case of Uttarakhand. Here around 15000+ are eligible candidates with UTET and still looking for govt. teacher jobs. And while official record points to lot of vacant post of teachers in the government schools. 2253 primary teachers post are sill to be filled through Vishist BTC. Today’s news says that yesterday they resorted to procession and might do other such things for appointment.
Needless to say that there should be proper thinking rather than take to benefit by playing with the aspiration of all and then giving nothing to anyone. Some of our policy makers are expert in this game and other are going smarter day by day.

Though, official details are yet to come. Lack of proper planning and mismanagement might just add to the confusion.

Tips, tricks and techniques for qualifying/ passing CTET/TET and UTET How to solve CTET/TET/UTET paper on time? Dos and don’ts of CTET/TET type exams

Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) pass percentage is hovering around 14% or 1% and Uttarakhand Teacher Eligibility Test (UTET-I 2011) stood around 27%. UTET-2013 is expected in coming months and July CTET notification is already out.

So more and more number of peoples are applying for CTET or TET but less are those who could pass these tests to become eligible for a teacher. So what is that which is hurdle in qualifying a basic level test to become a teacher?
Practical observations say that even the teachers with teaching experience in the schools are not able to qualify this basic test.
Imagine they may or they are teaching those things there in classes but could not surpass the like questions in the exam!

As we had mentioned in the previous years in this website that the pass percent of Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) by Center and States may seem too high at 60% but given the conditions and accepting it as the criteria then it is really a deliberating issue for policy makers and whole of us.

Here are some valuable and practical tips and tricks you can use to crack the hurdle of CTET or TET of any state for that matter.

Time management is the first and foremost thing you should take care of. Previous questions papers of CTET or UTET are available and you can check your pass percent by solving them in stipulated time.
For solving each question in CTET/TET you have only (90 minutes/150 questions) 36 seconds!
Further calculation says that it comes to 18 minutes for each section (total five sections of 30 MCQ each) of the CTET paper 1and paper II

Now you should keep above times in mind and decide accordingly what time you want to give to each section according to your confidence and knowledge.

Old saying by experts is that you should not waste your time on those questions which are “out of reach for you”
Take an example-
You are weak in math but the questions in the CTET or TET are such that you are tempted to solve them without looking into the watch and after giving more than enough time for those 30 questions you could solve at least 20 odd questions but then result came and you were surprised that you scored 14 or 10 or even less in math.
Ah! You now start contemplating that you should not have wasted your precious time over this math only.

Hope you got what I mean to say.

Try to at least, I am repeating, at least read once the whole paper of CTET/TET. If I am not exaggerating, you might be through this exam if you can at least read the whole paper. This is really difficult for many appearing candidates in these exams
As there is no negative marking you must got to mark all the answers any how.

Most CTET/UTET candidates I have met could not even see the whole paper. They were stuck somewhere in one section or so and later regretted they could have at least glanced through the other sections.

What books to read for the CTET/TET/UTET exams?
Books are available in market. Take any good book of your choice. NCERT books (especially for Math and Environmental Science) of class I to V for paper-! of CTET and the higher classes books for Paper-2 of CTET are the best ones.

CBSE has mentioned for CTET that the level of questions may go up to higher secondary.

The first part of TET is the child development/pedagogical/teaching aptitude questions
When you are applying for these TET means you must have gone through these kinds of questions topics in your psychology or other papers.
For example-
You must be aware of Jean Piaget’s theory, Operant conditioning, and classical conditioning to name a few. If you could not read the stages, characteristics and practical applications of these in B.Ed. then go for higher books of M.Ed. level to clarify the concept.
They are interesting and you will love to read them.

Secondly you must know things which are some basics of your teaching subject you have chosen whether it is math, SSt, English, Hindi Science etc.

These questions (more specifically teaching aptitude type) seem to be sometime so easy but when the result comes you feel that you might have made some blunders.
The point of view you used to solve such questions (may be they are also correct to some extent) are not same as those thought by the paper setters of CTET/UTET/TET.

The bottom line is that don’t jump to conclusions so early in such questions and at least not before reading all the alternative (a, b, c, d) answers. Beware they might be tricky sometimes.

Scoring 89 out of 150 and 90 out of 150! Isn’t a huge difference? One is selected and other is out.

Now let is talk about the language paper in CTET or TET. Here first of all it is suggested that you should remember what choice you have filled as first language paper and second language paper.

While filling the form and while in the examination hall one technique is to recall what language you are comfortable with. Choose that one as your first language and solve it prior to another language 30 MCQs. No confusion.
A little preparation of the second language paper might give you the extra valuable 5-10 marks in TET. So don’t neglect it altogether.

Isn’t it is good to idea to attempt the 30 first language Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) than any other section in the CTET/TET and then gain confidence for further portion? The decision, however is yours.

Very trifle matter, but important one. Don’t waste your time in asking from here and there. It will kill your time only in this time crunch exam.

Most often it is seen in such exams that the examiners/invigilators overlooking the proceeding of the exam in the exam centers or in the exam room are ill informed, ill prepared and very casual in their attitude and work style. This often kills more time of the examinee or the candidates.
For example-
Delay in distributing the answer sheets or the question papers. Taking them before time or giving someone more time to write than others. Ring of bell not on schedules. Getting signs, thumb impressions here and there. Gossiping and making unnecessary disturbances while the exam is on. Whether to use whitener in exam? Improper handling of miscellaneous happening or event during the test make things worse for the candidate giving the exam and others sitting there etc.

You in actual even don’t have the whole 90 minutes for the CTET/UTET paper.

With caution, it is good to at least inform the invigilator of what is correct (if it is at all) not waiting for other to stand and say and you just sitting and biding your time or doing the same mistake others have already done.
For example-
You see the teachers or the invigilator talking in loud voice in the room. Then what? Just tell them politely to keep shut. Not a big deal. They have to follow this. Etc.

However we suggest you should not use whitener or scratch the answer sheet. This may make your answer sheet or OMR sheet just not eligible for checking.

Stay calm and positive. This is not the end of the world. This exam will come again in six months.

Your suggestions, tips and comments are welcome
They will be updated and added to the post if found good enough.

Mystery case that must not go unnoticed: Popatrao Pawar, village head of Hiware Bazar in Ahmednagar District of Maharashtra

This news posted some 18 hour back by Ramesh Menon in Yahoo news. We have just posted this news here to let everyone out there to read this and spread such good news to every corner of the country before it goes oblivious in the plethora of rape, price rise, and corruption, useless and irritating news all over. We are doing our effort by posting it here.
Please read below first and as an Indian we need to appreciate and emulate this effort.

Village of 60 millionaires”
India is a leadership driven society—it suffices to look at Popatrao Pawar, the village head of Hiware Bazar in the Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra. In the span of twenty years, he transformed his drought-struck poverty-ridden village into one of the best models India has seen.

Before he took over the reins, the village suffered many problems: there was hardly any agriculture in the village from a lack of water, causing villagers to migrate elsewhere as daily wage labourers; the school was non-functional; domestic violence and village fights punctuated lives as alcoholism was rampant; and the surrounding eco-system was seriously degraded.

So how does one actually make a village rise against such problems?
The first thing Pawar did was get rid of the 22 illicit liquor dens, ban consumption of liquor all together, and ban tobacco and gutka.

Then he inspired the villagers to pitch in to build dams and dig ponds to trap the little rain that came in. This new water management system helped immensely as the wells soon filled, allowing farming to begin anew with fields becoming lush and green.

Not wanting to take change for granted, Pawar got water audits done so that there was a close check on water availability. Water was never wasted, as selfless villagers built 52 earthen bunds, two percolation tanks, 32 stone bunds and nine check dams—All through the use of the same government funds available to any other village.

Before 1995, there were 90 open wells with water at 80-125 feet, whereas today, there are 294 open wells with water at 15-40 feet. To put this into context, other villages in the Ahmednagar district have to drill nearly 200 feet to reach water.

Farming flourished as Pawar got farmers to invest in milch cattle, making milk the new gold of the village. While milk production was only 150 litres per day in 1995, today, it has crossed the 4,000 litre threshold! All this helped reverse migration see over 60 families return with the desire of becoming farmers once again to live life with dignity.

Now there are decent-looking houses all over and villagers look content, glowing with happiness. The monthly per capital income has crossed Rs. 30,000, and in a village of 235 families and 1,250 individuals, there are 60 millionaires!

Today there are only three families who live below the poverty line, but the village is now working to help them improve their income with hopes that in another year, no villager be poor. All this is more amazing when taking into account that in 1995, there were 168 BPL families in the village.

But Pawar has not only tackled the economic needs of the village. With regards to the waning ecosystem, he facilitated the planting of over ten lakh trees to fuel languishing bio-diversity; even Babool trees that were earlier cut for fuel are now cared for, as villagers began harvesting its gum that sells for Rs. 2,000 a kilo.

One would think that these accomplishments already make Pawar one of the great leaders of India, but on top of everything, Hiware Bazar is spotlessly clean—all without sweepers; villagers take pride in keeping their home clean, and defecation or urination in public is unheard of. Best of all, now that cleanliness has overtaken the village there is a crucial benefit for the villagers: widespread disease has become a thing of the past.

In addition, to get children to learn the benefits of good governance, Pawar began a children’s parliament giving them specific roles to work under. The “Education Minister” for example, goes from house to house inquiring if the school is functioning well. Even the teachers themselves learn from their students and respect this monitoring to incorporate the childrens’ advice into their work!

But how did Pawar address caste and communal conflicts that often divide society into sparring aggressive groups? It was very simple: he relentlessly stressed that change could not be brought about without communal amity, and his efforts were so beautifully embodied when the village Hindu community built a mosque for the only Muslim family in the village for them to not have to pray in the open.

And how has Hiware Bazar brought a new respect to women in the face of strong gender inequality in India? First of all, Pawar has got the gram panchayat to take care of the education and marriage expenses of the second daughter of any family, but also, out of the seven-member panchayat, three are now women. In addition, Pawar has stepped down from the village headman’s position (remaining as deputy sarpanch) to allow a woman to replace him.

Finally, to bring in holistic change, Pawar is now motivating villagers to adopt family planning. A lot of stress is being put on health and hygiene as it is crucial for the future of the village. In fact, Hiware Bazar is also the first village in India to persuade couples take an HIV test before marriage.

Interestingly, none of Pawar’s suggestions or schemes are opposed as the village has full confidence in him as he goes about trying to better their lives.

Hiware Bazar has shown that stimulating change is easy.  All it requires is good leadership and the political will to empower others in rising to a better future.”
As quoted from Yahoo news.

Each and every paragraph of this article seems defining the exact problems we face in most of the villages and their solutions.
So what you have to say?
1-where there is will there is way?
2-Hats off to Popatrao Pawar not that slapped minister S pawar
3- is it true?
4- How can this transformation in few years?
5- What politicians have to say?
6- What management gurus have to say?
7- News may have been exaggerated!
8- It is a unique case!
9- This is just impossible in other villages!
10- Hasn’t he paid bribe for various government schemes?
11- How he could harmonize between castes and communities?
12- How come people followed him just blindfolded?
13- Is it a fairy tale?
14- He may have roped in funds from other sources!
15- Leadership and (as we have been saying earlier also) will power matter a lot

There may be other side of this whole story but for now it seems like a fairy tale in our system. Our conditions may be different than a village in Maharashtra but change is possible. For example-
Just read the initial lines which say that first of all he managed to close down those liquor dens, banned liquor consumption and gutkha. In our state we have read in news that basic facilities might not be there but you can find mobile liquor vans in remote areas. And present government is more interested in earning revenue from this method than any other method.
Therefore where beginning is this what will be the future?

Eligibility criteria and other important information regarding contractual or part time teachers jobs in Kendriya Vidayalaya Nine things you should check for a contract teacher job in KV

So if you are confused about the minimum eligibility conditions or criteria for contractual or part time or provisional teacher recruitment in Kendriya Vidayalaya Sangathan (KVS)
Here are the general requirements for various category teachers before you can apply for KV or Navodaya part time/contract teacher jobs.
Further we have tried to provide you the answers to many frequently asked questions (FAQs) you might be thinking of before facing a KVs contractual teacher job interviews.

1-Why and how the vacancies of teachers exist in KVs?
Because there are lots of vacant teachers post in KVs. Some teachers are on leave for few months etc. All these add up to the total vacant teachers posts in KVs.
Further most schools just advertise for almost all the posts of different subject. But in reality there are only few subjects vacancies exist.

2-How is it beneficial for me to join KV as contractual teacher?
You will get good exposure in good KVs.
Your experience may add on and it will benefit you in many ways e.g., while applying for govt. aided college or schools the experience is given valuable marks in the merit.
You might be at advantage when facing the KVs permanent teacher job interviews once you are selected in the written exam for KV teachers etc.

3-What about the work load in KVs?
Frankly speaking there is much of work load. This is further compounded by the Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) pattern of CBSE.

Further sometime you might be given more than 5 periods but you will be paid for maximum five period only read below,

4-What about the salary or remuneration in KV contract job?

PGT- 260 per period
TGT and PET - 250 per period
PRT - 210 per period
Coaches and Music teacher- 210 per period
Computer Instructor- 210 to 250 per period for higher classes
Language teacher- 190 per period
Doctor- 1000 per two hours
Nurses- 750 per day

They might be telling you that for example 260/- per period for PGTs and 5 periods per day. (Maximum) which can be a good amount?

For example- which can add up to Rupees 260 X 5 periods X 24 days= 31200/- per month.
Seems good, but practically this is seldom reached. Given the holidays and fluctuating periods etc. you will however can reach up to 13000/- or so to 22000 /-or so (based on the actual experiences of the candidates)

5-How secure is your job in KV as part time teacher?
You as a part time teacher are there for one year or to be exact for one session (probably from April to March next year) only. Your contract is not renewed and you will have to look for other schools in the next years. This may be one of the reason such amount of vacancies in KV comes up each year purely on contract basis.
