Declared result and the cut-off merit of Uttarakhand State Eligibility Test (U-SET) 2012: its analysis and what you have to do now

Result of the first ever USET in Uttarakhand has finally been declared by the Kumaun University, Nainital.

But there seems to be lot of confusion. Frankly speaking some confusion is self made due to the high aspirations which might have been shattered by the result and the cut-offs of the various subjects. Of course some have valid reasons and as all you know that system is prone to twist and tweak for benefit of those in power and approach.

Anyway click here to download save this file on computer to check the cut-off of various subjects and list of candidates along with their marks and final list of selected candidates in the U-SET.

As per the University moderation committee they have taken the cognizance of NET and other state SET or SLET exams for the preparation of the result.

Those selected have to send their documents in support of the claim within one month of the result declaration and those appearing in their PG exams have one year time from the date of declaration of the result (UGC criterion is of two year they are saying it is only one year).

Are the vacancies in degree colleges will be out in one year??

Those candidates whose applications were incorrect /incomplete are eligible for the reimbursements or refund of their fee. Write a letter in this regard to the Member Secretary of Kumaun University. Send the copy of the demand draft along with the complete self addressed envelop.

One thing we could read in the notice regarding USET is that the University seems in hurry now to dispose the OMR answer sheets within 30 days. They were in no hurry to declare the result in that manner.

There seems no agreement regarding the cut-offs of various subjects. For example in case of Sanskrit UGC NET cut-off is around 65 but the USET is gone up to 67.43 for general category. One candidate was out of the race just because of this.

Some subjects it is very low.
For mathematical science it is 50.29 (general). For Physical sciences it is 54.29 (general) etc.
Those who were out due to 2-4 marks are planning to play another game.

If you have some of such kind of information please share with the audience with your comments.

We will update the page later with new inputs.

Your comments are welcome.

USET: result, cut-off merit and the issue of degree college lecturer recruitment 2012-13

New update- please read this new article to view the officially declared result and other information.

Result of the USET is being waited for by many in the state but still there is no such information.
But we have some information for you:
It may not seems to be good news for many candidates of the Uttarakhand State Eligibility Test (USET) but it may come true if the NET result of the June 2012 is to be believed.
As USET was based on the pattern of UGC NET, so the qualifying criteria may go as:

Following is the category wise official qualifying criteria for lectureship eligibility for June 2012 NET: so same may be the criteria for the USET

For General Category- Paper-I: 40%, Paper-II: 40%, Paper-III: 50%
And the aggregate marks of all three paper must be 65% or above for successful Passing of the NET exam.

For OBC (Non Creamy Layer) Category- Paper-I: 35%, Paper-II: 35%, Paper-III: 45%
And the aggregate marks of all three paper must be 60% or above for successful Passing of the NET exam.

For SC Category- Paper-I: 35%, Paper-II: 35%, Paper-III: 40%
And the aggregate marks of all three paper must be 55% or above for successful Passing of the NET exam.

Consequently if one is qualifying and selected according to the answer keys, but there are chances that he/she may not be getting the overall aggregate marks.
So be careful regarding that and check once more your USET answer keys.

Remember, that this was the first time UGC has given nod to the Kumaun University to conduct USET and it was objective type papers in all subject.

There is a proposal to recruit around 800 degree college lecturers in various subjects. These vacancies are to be filled up on basis of the USET merit in the state of Uttarakhand.

Further there were unofficial reports in newspaper that the cut-off may be increased in USET to screen out the lower merit candidates.
So even if someone is passing and having a high percentage, it may not guarantee seat in the degree college recruitment in Uttarakhand.

However please visit again for any official declaration in this regard.

Uttarakhand State Eligibility Test (U-SET) or State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) 2012 in Uttarakhand; is there need of the U-SET/SLET?

What is SLET or U-SET?
It stands for State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) or Uttarakhand State Eligibility Test (USET). It is state level test and can be conceived equivalent to the National Eligibility Test (NET). However the NET is valid in all India for JRF/Lectureship but SLET is valid for that state only.

After the formation of the state of Uttarakhand it will be first time SLET-2012 would be organized in the state possibly in the month of July, 2012 for the eligibility of Lectureship in the degree colleges of Uttarakhand. Kumaun University, Nainital is going to be the nodal agency for conducting the first USET of Uttarakhand.

Note- Official notification is out; please visit this link to know more about the official details of the U-SET

Government is in view that there is dearth of NET qualified candidates in the state of Uttarakhand. So this may one of the reasons for not filling up the vacant post of professors, assistant professors, associate professors in colleges of Uttarakhand.

Well, we don’t know how they prepare such kinds of reports and views?
There are peoples known to us who have cleared the NET in various subjects and are forced to take up jobs in schools. Further there are eligible candidates who are already teaching in colleges on the contract basis. So there logic seems less valid on ground level. Generally government policies looks like to be made for the vested interests of the few.
Well pardon me if that statement gone bit harsh and one sided.

One reason might be that they want to present a slight easier pattern so that more candidates become available. But government policies are most often increase eligible candidates without looking properly the employment aspect. The Same thing is happening with the B.Ed. course. See how peoples are now fighting it out at the issue of Vishist BTC.

Why not first ensure the jobs for those NET passed and then go for the SLET?
In fact if put in the right manner why go for the SLET by wasting the people’s money and time and just increase the number of candidates looking for job on that basis. It is also well known that at higher education level there are less government jobs as compared to the school education.
Also it seems more frustrating when they talk of maintaining quality in the education system. Can such duplicity and diluted standards ensure the quality?
Their contradictory policies and their thought process go on in AC rooms without much emphasis on the common man’s aspirations, need and benefit.
